Kazuhide Yamazaki | Home Work
Kazuhide Yamazaki (b. July 26th, 1951) attended the Tokyo Photo School in the early 1970’s. In 1976 he joined Daidō Moriyama’s legendary WORKSHOP photography school in Tokyo, and participated in group shows at Image Shop Camp. After moving permanently to the U.S. to attend the San Francisco Art Institute, Kazu eventually made his way to New York City where he worked as a painter, printmaker, photographer, and graphic artist. He designed the stage set, ephemera, and an album cover for The Rolling Stones’ 1981-82 American and European tours. In the early 1990’s, he co-founded the E.S. Vandam gallery, which put on numerous solo and group shows devoted to a wide-range of working artists. Kazu’s own work is included in a number of collections, including the Brooklyn Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the J.P. Morgan Chase Art Collection.
Kazu passed away in 2023 at the age of 72.
